Every Battlestar Galactica Series And Movies Ranked Worst To Best
6. Battlestar Galactica Season 1
The first proper season of the re-imagined series was almost perfectly balanced. The opening episode '33' is an incredibly tense roller-coaster and helps to establish the pace and tone of the series going forwards, while the remaining episodes allow for political drama, interpersonal drama, just enough small-scale space battles as not to overshadow the human characters and just enough strange survival intrigue to keep the plot moving forwards.
It's not perfect, of course, some of the early episodes were still trying to find the right use of their characters, but the sheer scope of the story bore out over any of the concerns. The episode 'Hand Of God' showed a brilliantly realized turning point in the narrative where the Viper pilots (two and ten of them, as it happens), manage to score a significant win for humanity and the characters realise that maybe, just maybe, they stand a fighting chance after all.
One of the best first seasons of a TV show of all time.
