Every Black Mirror Episode Ranked Worst To Best
20. Black Museum
In Black Museum, Letitia Wright gives an admittedly awesome, Emmy-nominated performance as Nish, a young woman who visits the titular museum and hears a handful of tales about the museum's strange artifacts from its curator, Rolo (Douglas Hodge).
It sounds promising when written up like that, but Black Museum is nothing more than a dire exercise in how to retread tired themes. The entire episode plays like a wonky retelling of the show's most accomplished episodes (specifically White Christmas), and feels constantly at odds with its own tone.
The season four finale leaves much to be desired, with mini-stories scattered about without meaning or substance, and the overarching racial themes handled with neither grace nor insight.
It features a shock twist, though, that links well with the episode's earlier mini stories, and Wright handles the script with a genuinely brilliant performance, but all told Black Museum is too derivative of what came before and unwilling to really challenge itself.
