Every Breaking Bad Villain Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Gus Fring
This formidable and downright terrifying antagonist was such an iconic part of Breaking Bad. His time in seasons 2 - 5 was incredibly memorable and quickly served as one of the show's best periods, which is why he easily deserves a place here.
A lot went into making Gus impressive, such as the fantastic performance from Giancarlo Esposito and his overall amount of power. But the central drawing point for the villain was being the first character who could outsmart Walter. Thus far, the former chemistry teacher got by because he could easily outwit those he worked under, but that was not the case with Gus, who quickly appeared to be his intellectual equal.
He was fundamental to the show, as he represented a massive change of pace. Gus took Breaking Bad from being a violent story about two drug manufactures in over their heads to a battle of wits between a scientific genius and a business mastermind. However, he could still back up the physical threats, as evidenced by the brutal throat slit scene from the episode "Box Cutter".
Gus Fring will go down in history as one of the best villains on TV, thanks to the brilliant performance from Giancarlo Esposito, his impressive presence, and the character's epic demise.
