Every Death In The Simpsons Ranked

11. Cornelius Chapman (The Mansion Family)

In perhaps the show's greatest comedy death, Cornelius Chapman enjoyed the accolade of being "Springfield's Oldest Man"... for about ten seconds.

In Season 11's "The Mansion Family", the town gathers for the annual "Springfield Pride Awards" (there was a lot of buzz around Lenny) and one of the statues goes to the 108-year-old Cornelius Chapman. In his time in the town, Chapman built the first log cabin in Springfield, introduced the toothbrush to the community, and once took a bullet for former senator, Huey Long.

He might have survived being shot, but Chapman finally fell to a kiss on the cheek from awards co-host Britney Spears. The "Kiss of Death" was enough to finish the old man off for good, ending his reign with the trophy shortly after it began.

Everything about this death is hilarious. From its sudden nature to Kent Brockman kicking Cornelius' corpse out of the way, the whole thing is masterfully done. It also serves a purpose too, as Mr. Burns goes for his check-up upon being named Cornelius' successor. It's safe to say that Cornelius' long life was leading up to this one moment and it was totally worth it.
