Every Death In The Simpsons Ranked

6. Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky (Clown In The Dumps)

Simpsons Death
20th Television

In the build up to the show's twenty-sixth season, showrunner Al Jean revealed that a character would die in its premiere episode, "Clown In The Dumps". Now it doesn't take a genius to realise which Simpsons character was in danger with a title like that... Moe... oh wait, Krusty! I meant Krusty!

The thought of a major character death excited many in the Simpsons fandom as it presented a chance for the show to seriously shake itself up in a way it had failed to do with Fat Tony four years earlier. However, whilst fans correctly guessed the bloodline of the character being killed, they were out by one generation.

It was Krusty's father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofsky, who got the chop, dying mid-sentence when Krusty asked him if he was funny. The death was extremely sudden and didn't really play much into the episode's plot, but fans were very fond of the Rabbi since his introduction in Season 3 and to see him die was still a sad moment.

His death was made even more pertinent when comedian Jackie Mason - who provided the voice for Rabbi Krustofsky - passed away for real in 2021 at the age of 93.
