Every Doctor Who Series Opener - Ranked Worst To Best

2. The Woman Who Fell To Earth

Doctor Who Series 11
BBC Studios

Arguably the best Jodie Whittaker episode and certainly the best Chibnall one, The Woman Who Fell To Earth, is utterly brilliant from start to finish, and temporarily put fans at ease that Doctor Who was in safe hands.

From the moment she falls through a train roof, Whittaker shines as The Doctor, bringing lots of confidence and energy to her incarnation. The companions; Yaz, Ryan, and Graham (as well as Grace), are set up with hugely promising character arcs.

In particular, Bradley Walsh was surprisingly the standout, adding the right balance of comedy and emotion, proving to audiences that he is more than just 'that guy who hosts The Chase'. Plus, before he was butchered in the Series 11 finale, the evil 'Tim Shaw' was an impressive bad guy.

Expectations for this episode varied across the fandom, but it absolutely proved all the doubters wrong. Shame it has been a bit of downward spiral since, but that's not whats being judged here.
