Every Doctor Who Series Opener - Ranked Worst To Best

3. Rose

Doctor Who Rose
BBC

The episode that successfully rebooted the whole franchise. Need I say more?

Had Rose not been a success, Doctor Who may have been cancelled for good. Fortunately, Christopher Eccleston, Billie Piper, and Russell T. Davies were on hand to inject new life into the series. Rose provides the perfect introduction for people new to Who, as well as older fans who had grown up with the classic era.

From his very first line: "Run!", Eccleston is outstanding as the Doctor, and it's criminal that we only ever got 13 episodes with him. Regardless, he and the rest of the cast do such a good job of establishing their characters so quickly, yet still leaving room for development in just a single episode.

While the Autons are not the most interesting villains, they are suitable creepy, and very serviceable for the revival's pilot. The final shot of Rose running toward the TARDIS excited for adventures in time and space, concludes one of the most important TV episodes in history. In short, Rose is fantastic!
