Every Dragon Ball Z Saga Ranked From Worst To Best
11. Namek
With the battle of the Saiyans leaving earth devastated and decimated, the Z-fighters have to travel to Piccolo's home planet of Namek. The iconic blue grass and azure trees meshed perfectly with the green skies to create a striking aesthetic that would stick with fans, burning an image in their heads of the series' best battleground.
What follows is a mad dash to claim all of Namek's dragon balls, with Vegeta, Frieza, and the Z-fighters all marking tallies on the scoreboard.
Speaking of Vegeta, this saga was very much a coming-out party for him. He showed his own strength against Frieza's grunts Qui and Dodoria, and despite suffering a loss to Zarbon, he would rally and get his win back in the rematch.
With Goku not showing up until the tail-end of the saga, the saiyan prince took control as the show's driving force, and even turning face in the process, giving fans an edgier and angrier alternative to Goku.
While the Namek saga did complete the foundation of DBZ and offered plenty of change from a story perspective, it unfortunately was lacking on the combat front. None of Frieza's cronies had the real presence of the show's later villains and just seemed like pylons, set up for Vegeta to knock down.
