The introductory episodes of what would be DBZ's final villain were a bit awkward. Many fans didn't know what to make of this pudgy pink antagonist with a cape that looks like a bed sheet, yellow dish-washing gloves, and crinkly white shorts. He hardly looked the villain that would succeed Cell, and watching him go to town on fighters like Gohan, Vegeta, and Trunks made them look silly.

Still though, this saga had plenty to offer to make up for its initial awkwardness. Gohan finds his second wind and begins training with the Z sword, giving fans reason to believe in him yet again.

His father Goku also gives fans one of the greatest moments in series history by going beyond even further, and reaching the long haired super saiyan 3 status.

From a comedy perspective too, this series really delivered. Mr. Satan, the undisputed martial arts champion of the world, is sent by his adoring public to send Buu packing just as supposedly did for Cell. What follows is a genuinely hilarious sequence where Mr. Satan instead befriends the innocent Majin Buu, convincing him that maybe being a god of destruction isn't exactly okay from a moral perspective.

Goku going super saiyan 3 is one thing, but it's tough to top Mr. Satan and Buu bathing together, an iconic series visual
