Every Dragon Ball Z Saga Ranked From Worst To Best
16. Babidi
Despite having a very strong setup, the Babidi saga was one that could not escape the shadow of the Cell saga. With the Z-fighters all heading to fight otherwordly aliens, the villains that they meet hardly match the caliber of what they had just faced. Save for Dabura, none of these aliens have the menace of Freiza, Cell, or the Saiyans.
Meanwhile, levity is still kept up by Goten and Trunks at the tournament, fighting together as the hooded Mighty Mask, indicating to the fans that the tone of this saga still isn't as serious as it could be. Instead this saga does more to hype what's coming up in Majin Buu.
That said, the saga does give fans a long awaited rematch. Seeing Vegeta and Goku work together as bitter allies had fans clamoring for one more match between the two saiyan warriors.
With Vegeta sacrificing himself and allowing his mind to be under the control of Babidi, all for just a little more power, he has all the reason he needs to try and take down Goku again. Even better is when he goes against orders and breaks the conditioning, asserting his autonomy and setting himself free from Babidi's control.
The saga is fine, but not because of its new villains. The internal conflict of Vegeta elevates this above forgettable territory.
