Every Dragon Ball Z Saga Ranked From Worst To Best
13. World Tournament
When Dragon Ball fans want to see a bunch of fights for no real reason at all, this calls for a tournament. Tournaments sagas. Much like in the world of pro-wrestling a good old tournament is fool-proof way to set up a series of good matches, without needing an elaborate narrative. It also serves as a good way to introduce new characters, or give some steam back to old ones with a few easy wins.
Goten and Trunks end up being the ones to steal the show, despite being the two youngsters of the Z-fighters, both go super saiyan in the tournament. Gohan also finally dropped the dreaded Great Saiyaman gimmick with his identity finally being revealed to the public.
Also monitoring the fighters was the watchful eye of The Supreme Kai, Shin. He warns the rest of the Z-fighters about the evil wizard, Babidi and his plans to awaken Majin Buu, leading seamlessly into the next saga.
As far as transitional sagas go, few do it better than the world tournament, which gives fans a relaxed environment to enjoy after the white-knuckle intensity of the Cell games. It also does a good job at tying up some loose ends and establishing new fighters. All things considered, it gave DBZ fans a lot to look forward to in the coming seasons.
