Every Episode Of Atlanta Season One Ranked Worst To Best

8. Episode 4 - The Streisand Effect

Atlanta, Donald Glover
FX

Episode four of Atlanta's first season asks a rather poignant question; when faced with a challenge, should we act immediately or wait until we see the full picture?

It's this question that burrows into the narratives of Earn and Alfred; as both of them face challenges this episode, and while neither of them are the most impatient of people, their patience is tested.

For Alfred, his Paper Boi persona finds itself mocked and trolled by a detestable figure called Zan. From the moment he's on screen, he seems to be making a meal of poking the sleeping bear that is Alfred. And when he's not around Alfred, he's tearing him apart.

For Earn, his poverty continues as he and Darius go on a trade-up adventure that inevitably leads to an investment that would prove fruitful in the future. While Earn does get a new phone he needs immediately from Darius, it should have been a learning experience to Earn that he shouldn't reach for the easy money just because it is right in front of him.

Alfred's story concludes similarly; as he realizes Zan is not worth his hostility, and is just a poser trying to put on a harsh front like him.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
