Throughout the second season, Earn's abilities as a manager have been put under the microscope by Alfred, and in the ninth episode of the season it all comes to a vicious conclusion on a road trip.

Tracy's behaviour might be a problem, but Earn should certainly take responsibility. Earn's money saving tactics get himself, Alfred, Darius and Tracy staying with an unhinged student whose obsession with Paper Boi borders on Misery-style creepiness.

It's one blow after another for Earn as he is blamed for the party, Alfred drops not-so-subtle hints of firing Earn him, and their car and belongings have been trashed by the students.

There is a familiar feeling of injustice towards Earn when all the blame is put squarely on him, but there is this lingering sense that things might have gone a bit smoother had Earn vetted the person they were staying with, and maybe booked them a few hotel rooms.

But Tracy just won't let it go and his constant prodding of Earn forces a car off the road and in a moment that should have seen Earn walk away with some kind of win, he's instead beaten and defeated. It's the end of the line for Earn.
