4. Veep: Season Five
Veep is thankfully still riding high in its fifth year and any fears that a new showrunner would derail it has proven false. The acidic dialogue and quip-happy scripts are still there, and the cast has never been better. The politic backstabbing and rivalries prove depressingly accurate too.
If anything the antics on the show seem a little tame now, compared to the actual 2016 presidential race, but at least Veep provided more laughs. Julie Louis-Dreyfus continues to be the star attraction, but Huge Laurie is the show’s secret weapon as vice president Tom James; the mutual hatred the two feel for each other powered most of this season.
Time will tell if Veep can keep it’s streak of quality going, but on this evidence, it has at least a couple more seasons in it.
