Every Inside No. 9 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

2. To Have And To Hold

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: An unhappy couple (Pemberton and Unforgotten's Nicola Walker) try to save their floundering marriage.

Location: A house.

To Have and to Hold is a masterpiece.

It starts out as a poignant, hilarious and brilliantly cringey domestic comedy about a failing marriage. It might be quiet by Inside No. 9 standards, but you're unlikely to care when the writing and performances (particularly from Nicola Walker) are this damn fantastic.

Then... it drops the twist. To call it a doozey is an understatement. It's arguably the greatest Inside No. 9 twist of all time and turns this episode from a comedy into the stuff of nightmares. It's bloody horrifying in every way.

Then, in the final section of the episode, it delivers an unbelievably satisfying ending that'll leave everyone cheering. A wonderful domestic comedy and a nightmarish horror story about evil lurking in ordinary places all at once, this is a stunningly rich piece of television.

All in all, this is an absolutely stunning horror-comedy and one of the show's all-time greatest. Just be warned: you'll never look at a pot noodle the same way again.
