Every Kaiju Confirmed To Appear In Netflix’s Godzilla Singular Point So Far
2. Jet Jaguar
The heroic robot Jet Jaguar makes his first appearance
since the TV show Godzilla Island, which aired from 1997 to 1998. Despite being
a robot in both 1973’s Godzilla vs. Megalon and in Godzilla Island, Jet Jaguar
is often considered to be a kaiju. It is currently unclear if his Godzilla
Singular Point depiction will be a robot, like his Toho counterpart, or if it
will be a pilotable mech.
The most notable difference to Jet Jaguar in the Godzilla Singular Point trailer, is that he seems to be dormant in his giant form. In Godzilla vs. Megalon, Jet Jaguar is human-sized, standing roughly 180 cm tall for the majority of the film. He is only able to grow to a giant size in the film's climax, in which Jet Jaguar temporarily gains free will and chooses to help Godzilla protect the movie's human characters from Megalon and Gigan. Jet Jaguar also has some design changes, such as the large vent on his chest and the more mechanical joints in the arms and legs.
In the shot of Jet Jaguar from the Singular Point trailer, he is seen being observed by a character named ‘Shunya Sato’. While we don’t know too much about Sato, his brief biography states that he is the “chief of staff of Misakioku [who] became wrapped up in the fight against Godzilla”. This could mean Jet Jaguar is one line of defence that Japan are taking against the kaiju.
