Every Kaiju Confirmed To Appear In Netflix’s Godzilla Singular Point So Far
1. Gabara
Possibly the most interesting inclusion to the cast of
Godzilla Singular Point is the mutant amphibian kaiju, Gabara. Gabara has not
been seen in a Godzilla production since the 1969 film All Monsters Attack,
however he did appear in two Toho-produced TV shows in the 1970s - Go! Godman, and Go! Greenman. Both of these are superhero shows in which Gabara featured
as a villain for the titular Godman or Greenman, depending on the series, to
face.
The Gabara depicted in 1969’s All Monsters Attack is actually a representation of Ichiro Miki’s childhood bully - also named Gabara - meaning he is not a physical kaiju. The kaiju representation of Gabara is a bully to Godzilla’s son Minilla and, together with Miki and Godzilla, they are able to stand up to Gabara, which teaches Miki that he can stand up to the real Gabara in his life.
Godzilla Singular Point would mark the first appearance of Gabara in a Godzilla production in 56 years, as well as his first physical appearance in a Godzilla production ever. His design has changed drastically from his original Toho depiction, swapping out the tall neck and ginger hair for a far more slender design. He is sporting a large mouth and has had the size of his horn increased, giving parallels to the exaggerated designs of Rodan, Anguirus and Godzilla.
Gabara is cloaked in the same red mist seen with the kaiju throughout the trailer, almost to the same extent as seen with Godzilla himself, further alluding to a connection between the mist and the kaiju.
