Every MCU Disney Plus Pilot Ranked Worst To Best
2. Moon Knight
The MCU's most recent Disney Plus pilot is one of its best. Given that Moon Knight has only just started airing, it's impossible to say how the pilot, The Goldfish Problem, affects the rest of the series. However, it is possible to say that, on its own merits, The Goldfish Problem is quite good.
The episode introduces us to Steven Grant, an unfamiliar name to comic readers, as they know Moon Knight as Marc Spector. Steven is a nerdy guy working at a museum gift shop in London who appears to have some sort of sleeping disorder, and as such is forced to keep himself locked to his bed at night.
However, one night, he appears in another country with no clue how he arrived, and a cult leader forces him to hand over a scarab he didn't realize he had. Steven is unable to hand over the scarab, and during a blackout, proves to be a capable fighter. When he returns home, he finds that he has been gone for two days, and starts hearing a strange voice in his head.
Unlike the other MCU Disney Plus series, Moon Knight focuses exclusively on new characters, and it does a great job developing them from scratch. The episode also sets up intriguing mysteries: Who is the man in the mirror? What is this creature following Stephen? Why does the woman on the phone call him Marc?
Granted, many of these mysteries can be solved by reading the comics, but The Goldfish Problem still makes audiences crave episode two as soon as possible.
