Every MCU TV Show Ranked From Worst To Best

14. Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D: Season 1

Agents of SHIELD John Garrett

The first out the gate for Marvel’s ambitious TV/Movie universe plan. It arrived straight after the enormous success of the first Avengers movie, was co-created by Joss Whedon and brought back Clark Greg's deceased fan-favourite Agent Coulson. Expectations had catapulted to sky-high heights - unfortunately, they came crashing down almost from the get-go.

Whedon quickly exited after directing the passable pilot with the rest of the show definitely missing his touch. Add to that a dull procedure element, Coulson's resurrection was a mess, the ensemble cast lacked sparks, and generally, the stories felt like they were regulated to the outskirts of the MCU.

Luckily, that Hydra twist from Captain America: Winter Soldier leaked over into a killer plot-twist with the addition of (the late) scenery-chewing Bill Paxton giving proceedings a serious boost of energy. With the stakes upped, the group dynamic suddenly had time to shine with an exciting second half that was capped with a Nick Fury-infused finale.

Unfortunately, most had written off the show before they had a chance to be won back - those people missed out on an excellent wrap-up of this otherwise muddled season.
