Every Rowan Atkinson Film & TV Project Ranked From Worst To Best

29. Maybe Baby

Blackadder Series 2
Lionsgate UK

A turn of the millennium comedy involving some of the UK's finest comedic talent, this film rather fell through the cracks upon release, receiving a muted reception both commercially and critically, in a period where cinemas were oversaturated with superior British comedy films.

Much like Puddle of Mudd or Mad Cow Disease, the picture is extremely dated to this era, making contemporary reviews appear over-generous if anything.

Atkinson's performance is one of a number of elements that left audiences feeling frankly, a little uneasy. Playing a largely unhelpful, and non-self aware gynaecologist, Atkinson appears in a number of weak sexual humour scenes that just Will. Not. End. A complete lack of comedic chemistry with female lead Joely Richardson also does not help.

Atkinson appears alongside Hugh Laurie, in by a distance the lowest ranking collaboration between the two on this list. Thankfully this flop would have little effect on the momentum of Laurie's career.

Already a household name in Britain, Laurie had begun to build his profile across the Atlantic, having previously appeared in the likes 101 Dalmatians, and Stuart Little, and was a few short years away from his defining role as Dr. House.
