Every Season Of Prison Break Ranked Worst To Best
3. Season 4
The fourth season reverted back to it's 22 episode format, with two additional episodes released straight to DVD.
Michael and Lincoln, along with the remaining and recurring cast looked to take down 'The Company' once and for all, exposing the conspiracy by obtaining their digital black book known as 'Scylla'.
This initial final chapter is laden with melodramatic performances and production values, unlike the first three, which made for frustrating viewing. It was as if the writing team ran out of steam or simply forgot what made the franchise so compelling in the first place. The first half of the season dragged and over-complicated, over-the-top and non-concluded plot lines featured heavily throughout.
This all didn't matter in the end though, as the final episodes all led to a stellar conclusion, with the season's two-part 'Final Break' tying up all the loose ends.
T-Bag and the leader of 'The Company', Krantz (Leon Russom) get their comeuppance and Scofield makes the ultimate sacrifice to save Sara and his unborn child, knowing he wouldn't have much time left due to his medical condition.
Michael's death, though gut-wrenching, was a fitting conclusion and consistent of his selfless nature. All of it for the sake of freedom. The last hurrah to finally utter with relief and powerful liberation, "We're free."
