Roles were reversed and the stakes were heightened in Season Three. It was Burrows' turn to break his brother out, but he'd have to do so from the inmate-run prison, Sona. On top of that, Burrow's son, LJ (Marshall Allman), along with Sara, are being held hostage by 'The Company''s hired gun, Gretchen Morgan (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe).
Season Three only ran for 13 episodes. This was ultimately due to the 100 day Writer's Guild strike in the United States over funding and profit disputes. This affected a vast amount of shows including Fox's series, 24, and unfortunately, the quality and pacing of the Prison Break took a hit as a result.
Another downside was the writing (and killing) off of Sara Wayne Callies' character due to scheduling issues. Callie quotes that she, along with the production team, were "unable to find a way to meet both the needs of the story and the needs of my family." Thankfully, the female lead and the powers that be ended up on good terms and Sara returned 'from the dead' next season.
This wouldn't be the only time, if you've ever seen the deleted scenes of AMC's hit post-apocalyptic series, The Walking Dead.
