Every Star Trek Film & TV Show Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991)

Star Trek Seven And Janeway
CBS

The Undiscovered Country is the most politically heavy Star Trek film yet. It deals with the Klingon Empire and the Federation attempting to negotiate peace after the Empire is devastated by the explosion of the moon, Praxis.

Shortly into the peace negotiations, Kirk and McCoy are framed for the death of Chancellor Gorkon, and forced to escape from a Klingon prison. Eventually, the two are able to clear their names, leading to peace with the Klingons, a fitting end for the arc of the Original Series films.

Seeing Captain Sulu and the Excelsior in action was also exciting.

Many more casual fans may dislike this The Undiscovered Country for being too political, but viewers that have been following the history of the Klingons and their relationship with the Federation see this movie as a turning point where the Empire became a friend of humanity rather than an adversary. This movie set the stage for the Federation's alliance with the Klingons during the Dominion War, decades later.
