13. Klingon Embassy In A Taste Of Freedom
A Taste of Freedom is an episode that follows Zoidberg. In the episode, while celebrating how free earth and America are, he eats the Earthican flag, a crime that the populace reacts poorly to. While Zoidberg claims this an act of freedom, it is seen as desecrating the flag.
Zoidberg flees to the Decapodian Embassy, which is stormed by Erth's forces after Zoidberg is sentenced to death unless he publicly apologizes, which he refuses to do. This causes the Decapods to attack earth and conquer it.
The reference comes when Zoidberg rushes past a series of embassies to get to his own. Subverting expectations, there is no bloodthirsty, warlike appearance to the Klingon embassy, it is shockingly pink and resembles more barbie's dreamhouse than an embassy of the most warlike species in Star Trek.
The Klingons are one of the most recognizable species in Star Trek and have appeared in multiple series and movies, including the reboot movies and the new series. The Klingons, while appearing as allies in later series, are enemies of the federation in The Original Series and are a violent bloodthirsty race intent on domination. The Klingon embassy is a funny nod to the species while making them a joke for fans to laugh at.
