Every Star Trek TV Series Ranked From Worst To Best

5. Star Trek: Voyager

Star Trek TV
Paramount

Star Trek: Voyager was an interesting departure from the standard Star Trek series formula, as it was less about exploration and more about survival. In turn, it provided viewers with some truly tense episodes that followed the overarching narrative of the USS Voyager's journey home (which was projected to take an upwards of seven decades.)

However, while different from the rest of the franchise in terms of the goals of our main protagonists, Voyager still maintained fidelity to the original values of the franchise. After all, the crew of the Voyager was stranded in an area of space that had never been explored by Starfleet. In other words, they were truly going where no one had gone before.

This, of course, opened the door to brand-new adventures and dilemmas that hadn't yet been explored on Star Trek television. Sure, the episodes could be a bit hit and miss, and even the great characters, like Captain Kathryn Janeway, could occasionally be a bit inconsistent. Overall, however, Voyager was a great addition to the Star Trek franchise and helped give the series' universe some more depth.

Objectively, Voyager may have been far from perfect, but a story about continuing to seek out new worlds and lifeforms while also fighting for your life is about as Star Trek as it gets.
