Every Star Trek TV Series Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Star Trek: Discovery

The most recent, and arguably most controversial, addition to the Star Trek franchise on television (or otherwise) is Star Trek: Discovery.

To be perfectly frank, it's genuinely baffling why this show has been met with the amount of backlash it has, considering what it's done is return the franchise to its roots of progressive values, such as humanism and inclusiveness. These aspects of Star Trek never left, but Discovery has returned them to the forefront.

What's more is that, objectively, Discovery is just a great show. It takes inspiration from both The Original Series and the recent reboot films, and, in doing so, found the perfect mix of Gene Roddenberry's philosophy-based Star Trek and J.J. Abrams' more adventure-heavy take on the series.

In other words, Discovery is the best of both worlds. It features exciting action sequences while also bringing provocative ideas and conflicts to the table.

In fact, as a prequel to The Original Series, Discovery, in many ways, has already succeeded where Enterprise fell short. Plus, as a complex character who is also the first Star Trek protagonist to not be a captain, Michael Burnham has established herself as the series' freshest lead in years.

Discovery may be a show in its infancy, but it has already established itself as a worthy addition to the franchise and has nowhere to go but up.
