Every Star Trek TV Series Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Much like how Discovery has handled its premise as a prequel to The Original Series better than Enterprise did, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine did a better job at departing from the franchise's norms than the already great Voyager did. What's more is that, along the way, it became one of the single best Star Trek shows out there.

Whereas shows like The Original Series and The Next Generation were centered around the exploration that was fostered by a Utopian society, Deep Space Nine's purpose was to take an in-depth look at just how challenging it was to maintain such a society and keep it from falling to its enemies.

It was a darker, more down-to-earth (as it were) look at the Star Trek universe, which was made clear by major plot points, such as the Dominion War. In turn, Deep Space Nine was Star Trek television at some of its most complex and thought provoking.

Finally, the jewel in Deep Space Nine's crown was easily Benjamin Sisko, who, in certain respects, can easily be considered the best of all the Star Trek captains. Just about everything that made Deep Space Nine so great can be traced back to Sisko's commanding presence.

In the end, Deep Space Nine was a near-perfect Star Trek series, and is second only to one other.
