Every Time The Simpons REALLY Killed Characters
9. Snowball II
It would seem that the Simpsons are incredibly unlucky when it comes to owning cats.
Prior to the show's commencement, their original cat Snowball was mowed down by Mayor Quimby's drunken brother Clovis, prompting them to quickly fill the gaping void in their hearts with the lovable Snowball II.
Things were all well and good until the season fifteen episode 'I, (Annoyed Grunt)-bot'.
Set parallel to a ludicrous story that saw Homer posing as a warrior robot to win Bart's affections, this episode's B-Story saw Snowball II tragically ran-over by Dr. Hibbert, leaving Lisa heartbroken and wondering if she could ever love another cat again.
Marge eventually convinces her to try again, but death's icy touch keeps killing their replacement cats in increasingly comedic ways, which ultimately makes Lisa question the point of it all.
In what is a colossal narrative conceit - and trust me, you'll be seeing plenty of those here - Lisa eventually meets a cat that narrowly avoids a hit-and-run, which she names Snowball II for the sake of simplicity. Thus sending us back to the status quo and allowing the show to continue on as if nothing had ever happened.
Bit cheeky that.
