Everything We Know About The Witcher Season 2 So Far
9. Narrative Approach
According to Hissrich, we can expect a "much more focused story", leaving behind the de-linear first season where timelines were interwoven. Where the first season builds the world and defines characters through a series of short stories, the second season will focus now on the story at hand, finishing with the Battle of Sodden Hill and Geralt finding Ciri at the end of season 1.
"A lot of what we’ve set up in season one will come into fruition in season two," Hissrich told the RadioTimes. She also comments: "Season one is all about world set up. It's making sure you understand the continent, where this world takes place. And that you also fall in love with these characters. Season 2 then allows us to have a little more focused storytelling".
Arguably receiving the brunt of the negative criticism, the show's narrative did prove difficult for some, but perhaps those who struggled with the disconnected storyline of the first season will enjoy the more story-focused engine of its second. It seems a smart move from the frontrunner, and who knows, maybe in the future, the critics will look back and reflect on the first season with a greater appreciation for its ambition.
