Falcon And The Winter Soldier Episode 3 Explained - Zemo's Return And Wakanda's Hitlist
4. The Flagsmashers Have The Only Remaining Serum
The next logical step is to talk about where the Flagsmashers stand now in relation to the serum and the Power Broker. Even though Karli seems pretty confident that the death of Nagel puts them in a good position to bargain, it can easily be argued that they now have people more intent on hunting and imprisoning them than ever.
Where before the Power Broker may have been eager to kill the Flagsmashers, now maybe it would be the logical step to take them and harvest their blood to try and isolate the serum once again. Not only are the United States government (complete with new Captain America and Battlestar) and the Falcon and the Winter Soldier (love it when you get to say the title) coming after them to put them in lockdown, but they are now more than ever prime targets for the Power Broker.
When the motivations are so emotional, however, it’s understandable that you may become a little blind to the reality. In this episode we got to see more of Karli’s drive, with her lamenting that the world should’ve belonged to Mama Donya and the others in the camps - she even details that she intends to give the serum to kids stuck in the camps. They were good people, honest people, and the world has beaten them down to nothing. We even learn that Karli asked Nagel to help Donya, who later died of her TB, a request that he refused.
It seems that still the Flagsmashers aren’t really the main bad guy here, they have their redeeming qualities, humanising features and some good moral points. Sure, they also blew up those soldiers, but everyone has their flaws!
