Falcon And The Winter Solider- ALL Easter Eggs From Episode 1 Explained
5. Could Torres Be The Next Falcon?
This first episode introduced us to Joaquín Torres. This seemingly bland soldier in the comics actually goes on to take up the Falcon mantle, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
At first acting as Sam’s eyes and ears on the ground during the Batroc fight, Torres goes on to have his fair share of fanboy moments when he gets to quiz Sam about Cap’s alleged moon base (sorry guys, it’s not real). Torres is a passionate and dedicated man, and frankly just seems very excited and eager to be working with The Falcon.
In the comics, as a result of experimentation Torres becomes a sort of human-bird hybrid (giving a whole new meaning to the Falcon title) but it seems unlikely that the MCU is going to be adopting that approach so far.
On the topic of friends old and new, it was lovely that we got to see Rhodes again - the War Machine badass himself all dressed up in his regalia to pay his respects to Steve’s legacy. Having a moment between him and Sam was a nice touch, adding a bit of extra emotion to what was already a pretty emotion-heavy episode.
But Rhodes wasn’t the only one who was there to add a bit of dimension to Sam and his struggles, we also got to meet Sam’s sister, Sarah, and two young nephews- learning a bit about their struggles to keep the family business afloat and the friction that Sam’s absence has caused between him and his sibling.
