Family Guy: 10 Most Controversial Moments

Gender politics is precisely the kind of thing you would expect Family Guy to poke fun at, as it's such a divisive topic. Almost everyone can agree that you need to have strong views and make your point clear if you're going to make an episode on sex reassignment surgery. This episode tried to do that but ended up poking so much fun along the way that it kicked up a stir.

The episode starts as we finally meet Quagmire's father and find out - much to our surprise - that he isn't a perverted creep like Quagmire. Soon, it's revealed that Quagmire's father is in Quahog for a "sex change operation". This, naturally, leads to a whole host of jokes at her expense and even a fling with Brian.

Bringing Quagmire's parent (now known as Ida) into the picture was promising, but there were so many outrageous jokes thrown at her that it made the show seem out of touch. Brian vomiting for a whole 30 seconds after learning he'd slept with a trans woman, throwing away food she made for the Griffins, and plenty of one-liners made this one a little too real for many.
