3. Peter Griffin
It may seem criminal to not rank Peter number one on any Family Guy character list. He is arguably the main character and one of the most iconic characters on the show. Peter drives many of the storylines in the series and his hijinks and humour are a cornerstone of the series.
Peter's lack of intelligence, recognisable voice and sense of humour are all classic components of what make Family Guy such an entertaining series.
Like many characters, Peter has become more mean spirited as the show has progressed with the show edging towards darker humour since it was first revived. However, this sort of humour suits Peter and makes sense as he seemingly does not know any better (unlike Lois). His friendship with Brian, bullying of Meg and hijinks he partakes in both with his drinking buddies and solo make him one of the best parts of the series.
While it could be argued that Peter Griffin has become more annoying and unwatchable as the show has continued, one statement is true: Family Guy would not be what it is without the comedic elements that Peter brings to the table.
