4. Road To Germany
Typically, these episodes consist of a story following just Brian and Stewie. There may be a B story in some of them, but rarely does another character get involved in the main plot once they are on the road to wherever it is they are going.
Who would have thought that adding a relatively minor character such as Mort Goldman into the mix could have worked so well? He was clearly only chosen to go back to 1939 Berlin because of his religion, but it still made for an enjoyable dynamic.
Family Guy has dabbled with time travel multiple times throughout its run of 20 seasons and counting, but this was different. Journeying from Poland to England, and ultimately Berlin whilst trying to hide Mort not only allowed for some great moments, it gave the writers plenty of opportunity to flex the classic Family Guy shock value humour.
Stewie dressed as Hitler meeting the real Hitler, Brian taking a shot at the US invasion of Iraq, and even Mort stopping Brian and Stewie from singing a classic jaunty ‘Road to’ musical number were all highlights of the episode.
