10. Northern Expansion Strategy
The end of the show introduces us to Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond)'s character Joe Bulo, who is heading up something called the Northern Expansion Strategy. This is clearly who was being referred to earlier, the threat to the Gerhardt family business (which, it should be said, is being run rather illegally). The Kansas City Mafia are planning on taking over, and with Otto having a stroke and the Gerhardts fighting amongst themselves over who'll run things, now is the time to strike. Again, this is part of a much larger plot, one that is likely to play out over the course of the entire season, and it's an intriguing way of setting things up.
