Fargo: 12 WTF Moments From The Season 2 Premiere 'Waiting For Dutch'

9. Behold The Future

Of all the Gerhardt kids, it's the plight of Rye that we follow most closely. The runt of the litter, he gets the most screentime, and first up is some shady dealing with a dodgy salesman. What, you wonder, are they plotting here? Drugs? Money? No. It's typewriters. The illegal trade of IBM typewriters is apparently going to be big business in 1979, and these guys are cashing in. It was set up to be another dramatic moment in an episode full of them, but the reveal of what it actually was turned the whole scene on its head. It was a small moment, but a funny one, and it's the little quirks such as this that really help Fargo and its characters stand apart from the crowd. Behold the future of 1979!
