5. The Headless Golem (“Who Rules The Land Of Denial?”)
Nikki Swango has run afoul of V.M. Varga and been framed for the murder of her fiancé Ray Stussy. She finds herself on a prison transport bus, shackled to the hitman Mr. Wrench.
Varga’s henchmen Yuri, Meemo, and Golem spring a trap on the bus and move in to kill Nikki. She escapes into the woods, however, with Wrench in tow. The unlikely duo, chained together, are pursued across the frozen landscape from daybreak through the following night.
They find an axe at an old campsite and try severing their chain. The sound alerts the henchmen, and soon both Nikki and Wrench are struck by arrows. Wrench, panicked, throws the axe into the trees and slices off Yuri’s ear. (Yuri soon bleeds to death.)
Golem approaches to finish off the duo, but they manage to pin him against a tree stump. Nikki and Wrench loop their chain around Golem’s throat and pull with all their might, then – crunch! – the chain cuts through completely, decapitating Golem. His head tumbles to the ground, splashing gore across the snow.
