Fear The Walking Dead: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Spin-Off

2. Being Compared To Apocalypse Now

There was a pretty intriguing little titbit hidden amongst the reports on the Fear The Walking Dead script leak. Amongst all of the nuts-and-bolts spoilers about he main cast, the setting, and the time period the show will be taking place in, a piece of analysis compared the tone of the pilot €“ its themes, its action, its characters €“ to Apocalypse Now. How exactly? Apparently it's a show where €œpeople all have plans, some in LA, some out, and we all know they are never going to pursue their dreams. This is not The Walking Dead, it€™s somewhere else entirely.€ Apocalypse Now was a film about damaged people dealing with the, well, apocalyptic landscape of the Vietnam War. At least partially. It was also about blasting The Doors loudly and Harrison Ford making a far-too-brief cameo, but they're both unlikely to be part of Fear The Walking Dead. The idea of the characters being sort of broken before the zombie apocalypse, and that situation only making things worse? That's the comparison.
