Fear The Walking Dead Episode 3: 10 Questions We’re Asking After 'The Dog'

7. Why Are Animals Not Affected?

TWD all-but-confirmed that animals were unaffected by the disease in a few different ways. First off, the meat isn't tainted (unlike Bob Stookey's leg) and the most obvious point is that animals have been killed but never reanimate. The same goes for the poor dog, after which Episode 3 is named, who is feasted on by Maddie's zombified neighbour. But why? Does that confirm the theory this is all caused by an airborne virus that can't cross species? Or has every animal death so far just been too final, leaving the creatures unable to return? It would be cool to see some demonic dogs hoofing around the city, but up to now, the chances look slim.
