First Look: CAMELOT, Starz

Camelot is a 10-part mediaeval drama based on the Arthurian legend, from the US cable network Starz. It has a starry cast: Jamie Campbell Bower (The Prisoner) as Arthur, Joseph Fiennes (FlashForward) as Merlin, Eva Green (Casino Royale) as Morgan, Tamsin Egerton (St Trinian's) as Guinevere, Claire Forlani (CSI: NY) as Igraine, Sinéad Cusack (Much Ado About Nothing) as Sybil, James Purefoy (Rome) as Lot, and many more. It's also notable for being executive-produced by British writer Chris Chibnall (Torchwood, Law & Order UK). Starz have released this 3-minute sneak peek, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast/crew. My first impression is favourable. I love the casting, the costuming and scenery looks decent, and something as simple as the colour scheme really stands out. This looks closer to what I always wanetd from the BBC's Merlin, when that series was first announced. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EIxaNSzqA8 Camelot arrievs in the US on 1 April, although Starz are premiering the first episode on 25 February to build word-of-mouth. Is that wise move, leaving a six-week gap between new episodes? It doesn't sound like a good idea to me, especially if the first episode underwhelms, but that's their plan. What are your thoughts on this preview and your hopes for Camelot in general? Is there room for another take on the Arthurian legend? Is Chibnall the right man for the job?
