The Flash: 10 Ways To Ensure The Series Will Be Awesome
3. A Strong Supporting Cast
One of Arrow's greatest accomplishments is its incredibly talented and well written supporting cast. John Diggle, Felicity Smoak, Roy Harper, Laurel Lance, and Detective Quentin Lance are all integral players that help the show succeed as a whole. Although Oliver Queen is inherently interesting and it's fun to watch him as the Arrow, his success as a bizarre character is dependent on his support team. Just as he makes clear as a character in the show it's also true of the way the show is run, he cannot do it alone. The cast list for the Flash seems to be growing by the day. With characters confirmed like Iris West, Eobard (Eddie) Thawne and Caitlin Snow (who becomes the villain Killer Frost), we know the show is off to a great start. But it's how these characters will play alongside Barry Allen that will help determine the success of his show. Because an audience for a TV show is often very diverse, having someone appeal to all ages, genders, and colours is incredibly important. The show is surely centred around the scarlet speedster, but the people watching want to be able to relate to someone in the cast if they can't find themselves relating to its hero. Just like not everyone can relate to Oliver Queen, they still find him entertaining because he's assisted by people they can relate to. So long as the Flash follows the same model they should be set up for success.
