The Flash: 19 Easter Eggs And References You Have To See

17. News Of The World

Anyway, that's enough of that cool TV show business, let's get back down to the nerdy brass tacks. Another big shout out to the comic books appeared in the background of The Flash pilot throughout, a minuscule nod to DC just barely visible on every television screen and monitor glimpsed across the episode. That channel that everybody in Central City uses to get their news, Channel 52? That's not only a reference to a number the publisher is obsessed with €“ a few years ago they completely rebooted their line of titles, launching 52 of them over the course of several weeks; the number has since become somewhat totemic - but a "news channel" which appears as a back up strip in various comics, informing readers of events in other series. That was a slight exaggeration, actually. Channel 52 News isn't the only way the residents of Central City stay informed. There were also a couple of reports which came from KSFZ News on Channel 8, where the anchor was one Linda Park €“ a name readers will recognise as the future wife of Wally West, the man who takes up the mantle of The Flash after Barry...well, we'll get to that soon enough. In the comics she reports for the slightly different KFMB Channel 4 in Keystone City, another possible future setting for The Flash TV show that will be discussed in due course. So just keep your hair on, all right?
