10. Who Killed Professor Stoddard?

The most burning issue is of course the central one to the plot. After a few altercations with other Fortitude residents, Professor Stoddart is found on the floor of his home with his insides hanging out all over the place - initially claimed to be the work of a bear but later revealed to have been done with a potato peeler. Almost every minute of the show since has focussed on this in some way, with the whole community shiftily side-eyeing one another as the various motives begin to thaw out and spread around town. The prime suspect is now Jason (at least in the eyes of the local police), who was seen coming to blows with the professor after attempting to extort money from him over the discovery of a frozen mammoth. His subsequent retreat out of town looking very suspicious indeed. Then of course there's also Hildur, who arguably had the most to gain from Stoddard's death after he suggested he might have to derail her plans for the new development project. Dan Anderssen's hands aren't clean on this one either, and almost every member of the town appears to have something to hide, so it's likely that there won't be any serious resolution on this one until at least the end of the season.
