8. Why Was Frank Covered In Blood?

Another incident that might well have passed audiences by was the rather suspicious and spaced out behaviour of Frank Sutter, following his return from his open-air tumble with Elena. Having left his sick child alone in the house to continue his affair, he returns just moments before his wife does and heads straight into the bathroom to get the smell of waitress off him, stopping only to remove his shirt and throw it in the bin. The shirt in question though was splattered with blood, and it's fairly clear so far that it didn't come from either him or Elana. What's more, Frank's nocturnal encounter coincides almost exactly with the death of the professor, with the discovery of the body being made in almost the very next scene. Not conclusive by a long stretch of the imagination, but yet another tiny clue to the events of the first episode. Everything that happens in Fortitude feels like it might be significant at some point, but one of the more unhinged members of the community returning home covered in blood just screams plot twist.
