5. What Is Ronnie Running From, And What's His "Plan B"?
Upon seeing that the local police were hot on the heels of his accomplice in the mammoth situation, Ronnie gets overwhelmingly spooked and attempts to make a run for it. Bundling his daughter and her rabbit up, he makes a break for the ocean before being thwarted by a contact of his who simply refuses to lend him his seaplane. Now, a brisk drive out of town would have been one thing, but looking for something as long range as a light aircraft implies he needs to get as far away from Fortitude as he possibly can. It seems odd that the cause of this is the impending arrest and questioning of Jason. Even if Ronnie knows (or just thinks) that he's the cause of Professor Stoddard's death, then that's largely not his problem. He didn't attempt to get money for the discovery, and there's no implication that he was involved in the murder, so his hands look clean on the matter - well, based on what's been shown already they do. There must be considerably more to Ronnie's situation than has been shown so far though as, of all the reactions to the murder and grieving widow aside, his has been the most dramatic. He was last seen him telling his daughter that he has a Plan B though, whether this is another route of escape or a new approach to the situation entirely remains to be seen.
