4. What Was Inscribed On Those Handcuffs?

Only featuring briefly in the opening episodes is Yuri, a man initially found wandering the arctic wastes without suitable protection. After having his pistol swapped for Dan Anderssen's rifle and told he can have it back when he gets into town, Yuri breaks into the Sheriff's drawer and stumbles across a pair of handcuffs. Nothing unusual there you would think, but the handcuffs in question clearly have something inscribed on them that's just out of focus to the audience. Whatever it is, it's something that Yuri clearly recognises and utters a few obscenities over the issue before the scene cuts away. There's also a small indication that Yuri and Eric have had a run in. Eric spends most of the first episode resting with the lower part of his leg in a cast, claiming to have stood in a bear trap (a claim his wife says she doesn't believe), but Yuri mentions that he put a policeman in hospital recently.
