So many lies have already been spun in the opening two episodes of Fortitude, that a lot of the real questions are getting skipped over. Namely, that there's no definitive answer yet about what Ronnie and Jason have actually found. All that's been shown is a few badly angled shots of a tusk from under a tarpin, and given the nature of the show it wouldn't be too big a stretch to find out it's something far weirder. There will likely be some sort of answer in episode three though, as the "tooth" that Jason has been carrying around is now in the possession of Natalie who has orders to examine it. However she's under orders from both Hildur and DCI Morton to report her findings only to them, so seeing which side she chooses might be integral to the creature's fate. Either way, the future development of Fortitude and Hildur's grand plans for the town likely hinge on it. There's more than a hint of the supernatural in the town (even if the show is yet to play its hand on that yet) and this creature could be the first hint that audiences will have something other-worldly to enjoy in the coming episodes.
