6. Royal Family

Another key target for Boyle's humour is the British Royal Family, and encompasses past, present and future members of the oldest institution in the country. Being raised in Scotland it is likely that he would get a skewed perception of the importance of this ancient foundation to certain people in the country. If the Royal Wedding was any indication, there are a significant number of these who support a group of tax-avoiding figureheads that were literally born into their "occupation". But from the controversial Prince Andrew, to the beloved People's Princess, and even the esteemed patriarch herself, none of them are safe from the critical eye of the wily Scot. The cream of his royalty-related material, of which there is an innumerable amount, includes: On Princess Diana -
"Instead of the pop concert, they should have done something that truly commemorated Diana's life, by staging a gangbang in a minefield" On Camilla Parker Bowles -
"We are currently walking in the echoing corridors of Camilla's vagina" On Princess Beatrice -
"We are paying our taxes so she can go to university to study the theory of ideas? I've got an idea for you Beatrice - get your fat a**e down to B&Q" But, one reference on Mock the Week drew particular criticism, when on a repeat of Mock the Week, in the "What The Queen Didn't Say In Her Christmas Message" segment of Scenes We'd Like To See, Boyle remarked:
"I've had a few medical problems this year - I am now so old, that my p***y is haunted" This criticism came during the tragic incident of "Sachsgate", which still causes fervent Daily Mail readers to break out in a cold sweat. If you don't know of the event, firstly I wouldn't be surprised, and secondly it is not really worth Googling to find out. But, it meant that at this point the media were desperate to pick out any comedic material that could be seen as offensive and shine their brightest spotlight on the perpetrators. And despite the fact that the episode aired originally two years prior, it didn't stop the BBC launching an investigation into complaints due to this highly over-exaggerated incident. It just goes to show that much of the widespread condemnation of Boyle has been due to the surrounding environment at the time.
