Friends: 10 Most Cringeworthy Moments
2. Ross Tries To Kiss Cassie
One of the more reviled moments in Friends history here, with many criticising this mini-storyline for disregarding years of Ross' character development, in the pursuit of some very cheap laughs.
We are introduced to Cassie in Season 7's The One with Ross and Monica's Cousin, otherwise memorable for Monica's attempts to replicate a certain part of Joey's anatomy with cold meats and silly putty.
What a disgusting day this must have been in the writers' room.
Cassie arrives in the build up to Monica and Chandler's wedding, a Geller cousin who the siblings haven't seen properly since childhood. Eventually she would end up staying with Ross, who would read a few "signals" that were clearly not there, and move in for a kiss with his relative. The cringeworthy nature of this scene is only exacerbated by the internal monologue playing throughout.
Interestingly, Denise Richards, who plays Cassie, would be revealed as one of a small number of actresses seriously considered to play Rachel. Although she didn't ultimately get the role, the showrunners were obviously keen to see her involved somehow. We daresay she would have preferred one of the most iconic parts in television history to this slightly embarrassing footnote in the show's run.
