Friends: 10 Ways It Should Have Ended

4. It Should Have Ended Earlier

What Happened

Friends was brilliant, there is no denying that. It went on for 10 seasons though and that's a really long time and it's all terribly impressive.

But the whole Ross and Rachel saga went on for way, waaaaaay too long: were they on a break or weren't they? Does it really matter after season 3 when the whole thing actually happened? No, it absolutely does not. They should have got together when Emma was born, but instead the whole Joey and Rachel thing was needlessly distracting.

What Should Have Happened

It should have just wrapped up earlier.

By the end, the characters were getting too old to be living the same lifestyles as they had for the previous 9 seasons. At the beginning we could identify with each and every member of the gang at a different stage in our own life.

From the weird transition to adulthood and having to think about how we could afford to live (Joey), going through the heartache of relationship breakups for all the right reasons (Monica), and finally realising that our career might not be right for us after all (Chandler), we could see ourselves in these characters.

Towards the end though they Ross and Rachel were too old to be constantly going through on/off relationship breaks, and the premise of the show kind of stopped working so well.
